The Process
The shape of our mugs are one of the most important features of why they become a true works of art. Each piece of mug begins with a meticulous design process, because our goal is to make each mug unique and special. When creating shapes and lines, inspiration comes from nature, modern art, or even the latest design trends but always taking into account practicality and style. During the design, we freely experiment with different shapes - whether it's organic, natural lines or geometric, modern patterns. All of this helps to make the mugs not only comfortable, but also true design objects. Our mugs are handmade by using the traditional ceramic forming technique, called slip casting, which dates back to ancient civilizations. Slip casting, when applied to handmade and premium art products, is a refined and meticulous process that allows artisans to craft highly detailed and delicate pieces with precision. The process involves using a slip cast mold, which is a porous mold made of plaster or another similar material. The mold absorbs the moisture from the slip, causing it to solidify and take on the shape of the mold. This method enables the reproduction of intricate textures, fine details, and complex shapes that are difficult to achieve through other hand-building techniques. From creating the molds themselves, to trimming, smoothing, decorating and glazing the mugs’ surfaces, experienced craftsmen’s skills are involved throughout this process. Thanks to the craftsmanship, each mug is a small work of art that will be not only functional, but also a decorative element of your home. All our mugs are made in Hungary in small production numbers with the finest raw materials.
